Betting in most casinos, traditional or online, means beating odds that are naturally in favour of the house. Whatever game you're playing, the odds are that you won't come out of it with enough profit to damage the casino and this is the only reason they are created, maintained, and are EXTREMELY profitable. For certain games there are methods of lowering the house favour enough to get a few extra wins in, and one of these is craps, simply because it involves the roll of dice. Experts in the game believe that the winning strategies behind craps can be divided into either of the major outcomes of the game: betting with the dice or betting against the dice.

Craps is played by one or more people at one time, all making any number of bets based on the outcome of the dice. One person shoots the dice at a time, and the players all bet on these dice in some form or another, for example the amount, the total amount rolled before a seven is rolled, or how the round will end. The sheer number of betting possibilities is what makes an otherwise dreary pastime - dice rolling - into a very popular casino game.

Betting with the dice is the process of betting in increments of three until each possible point has been gained, and every time the shooting restarts after a seven is rolled, the process begins again from the lowest numbers. Experts also suggest that whenever possible, the shooter should call for double-odds to raise the winning amount.

Betting against the dice is so-called because such a bet assumes that the dice will not come up with good numbers but will fail the shooter and ultimately turn up round-ending 7's frequently. As the 7 does turn up frequently in regular play, betting against the dice can be very useful.

Craps Betting

There are a few different types of bets for craps players, and the most fundamental of these are Player, Line, Single-roll and Multi-roll bets. A player may place what is called a fire bet on the very first role in the hopes that the next shooter will make a lot of different points. These bets are generally very low by casino rules. The line bets are established by the shooter before he or she rolls, and are determined by the numbers of the dice as to whether a pass-line is reached or a don't pass mark is made. Single-roll bets are just that - based on one single-roll (a specific number, for example) and multi-roll bets are those that take a few rolls to determine the outcome (number of rolls before a 7 is hit, for example).
