#1 Research Before You Leap
What is your dream, what is your product? Is there enough market for your product? Will people want to buy your product? If so for how much? Is there a lot of competition? Can you beat the competition with a unique angle to the product? It's important to do your own research.

The internet is rife with copy-cat products and business planning cannot be over-emphasized. There's nothing more discouraging than finding out you are unable to market your product after you've invested money into making it. Check out your competition
to see how much they're pricing similar products and investigate how you could better it.

#2 Buy refurbished office equipment rather than new
Most home business are able to operate because of the advent of the internet. These days refurbished notebooks or laptops, destop PCs, printers, photocopiers and such like can be picked for a bargain at auction houses or on the internet. This can make a huge difference in savings - sometimes upwards five hundred dollars.

Even nearly new office furniture such table and chairs can be obtained for very cheap prices if you keep your eye out for corporate companies that are replacing their stock. Even if you insist on new furniture, find wholesale outlets where you can buy several but different items cheaply.

#3 Use ordinary software to create professional letterheads
These days most computers come with fantastic free software such as Powerpoint which can be used to make professional looking logos, letterheads etc. You can also invest a small amount into a logo making software to create business cards, brochures and letterheads.

The advantage is that, once you have the software you can offer such services to others diversifying your home internet business.On the other hand you can use pre-printed stationery for your business cards rather that than custom made design which can be very
expensive.

It's best to keep work within your family, however if it becomes necessary for you to employ a sales person, pay them commision rather than a salary so that you only spend money when you have made some. That's why starting an affilate program is good if you have a distinct product to sell. Plus it improves your ranking as many people link to your website.

Joint Ventures in any business is useful especially in the internet business. If you have a good product but no customers i.e no traffic then it's wise to partner with someone who has got a high traffic website and advertise on their site or broker a co-registration deal with them for your newsletter. This is usually much cheaper than buying an email lists and also
you will no that these people opted to be in your newsletter mailing list.

#6 Use PostCards for Direct Mailing
Using postcards for direct mailing to advertise your business offline is so much cheaper than if you use the classic letter and enveloppe. Postcards forces you to keep your sales message short and succint and posting it is much cheaper. Plus they are more likely to be read since they take no effort to open.

#7 Encourage Referrals
When you have worked hard to secure a satisfied customer, don't be afraid to encourage them to refer you to their friends. This is known as viral marketing and is how big internet businesses like Yahoo started.
