Beverage Industry: Bubble Yum Soda Review
By:Jorge Olson
Bubble Yum Soda is a new beverage derived form the very popular Bubble Yum Bubble Gum.
The gum has been around from 1975 introduced by Lifesavers Candy and made popular during the 1980’s. The Bubble Yum Bubble Gum now belongs to Hershey's.
Bubble Yum Soda is currently available in 2 flavors: -Original Flavor -Sour Cherry Flavor
The soda truly smells and tastes like Bubble Yum Bubble Gum. All you have to do is taste it and you’ll be hooked. From the moment you open it you get the smell of the Bubble Gum. It brings back memories! Bubble Yum has been around since 1975. Almost everyone remembers the Gum from when they where kids. Especially the TV commercials or chewing on it while playing little league baseball games. Some of us still buy it today.
You can find the new beverage in convenience stores across the USA although not every city has them right now. It is always easier to find this product in name brand convenience stores like 7-Eleven.
The soda comes in 20 oz plastic bottles, 24 to a case just like the popular Jolly Rancher Soda distributed by the same company. Expect this new trend of name brand candy crossing over to sodas to continue. It’s the only way the soda category is growing at the moment. The category as a whole has sees either positive or negative growth of only about 2% per year.
About the Beverage Industry and Sodas
The soda industry has become stagnant while the new age beverage category (energy drinks, flavored waters) is exploding and still growing at double digit numbers.
This new trend to launch not only new sodas under an existing name brand is working, especially in this case where the name brand is one of the oldest and most recognized in the candy industry like Bubble Yum.
In our taste tests kids were attracted to the vivid colors and sweet taste. Adults immediately recognized the name brand and most of them expressed their delight when they saw the product. They could not believe their eyes, a new product from their favorite candy.
Bubble Yum soda is already available for national distribution and you can contact the phone number bellow for more information.
For distributors and retailers the largest advantage is the name brand recognition. “It’s an instant name brand” said Carlos Lopez, who currently markets the brand for the manufacturer. Distributors automatically know what it is and recognize the brand. Even if they have not seen the product they immediately want to carry it. They see the power of the name.
