Bingo Halls

Traditional land-based bingo is played at bingo halls across the world. The UK and the US are the primary players of bingo, although as the game is regaining popularity halls are opening in countries from Germany to Canada.
Bingo halls in the US are mainly run by churches or charity organizations. Bingo games are more of a social event for friends to get together and enjoy some games of bingo over some snacks and drinks. This factor is influenced by the state gambling regulations, which vary in every state. Some states allow church or charity bingo games to be played in bingo halls, as long as these games are played for fairly low stakes. Charity bingo games usually occur at halls that have been booked for the occasion, while church games are usually held every week on the church premises.
Bingo games with higher stakes and payouts are usually offered by casinos, usually only in certain states in the US, such as Nevada. There are also a number of Native American bingo halls in which players can play for higher stakes. These games often attract players from all over the state, and many offer special progressive jackpot games that include players from multiple bingo halls.
Some bingo halls form networks to get around the limited winning structures. These networks are very popular in Canada.
In many Canadian and US bingo halls, players buy multiple cards for each game. These vary, but average on 30 cards per player. To ensure this does not encourage misconduct, the cards are fixed to the table with adhesive tape.
One of the potential issues of playing in bingo halls is the halls smoking policy. Recently, legislation was passed in the US to include bingo halls in places that allow smoking. While players who smoke benefit from this legislation, non-smoking players can find this a problem. Some halls have equipped themselves with special ‘smoke eating’ air conditioners, which neutralize smoke odors and help to keep the air as clear as possible.
One of the entertaining aspects of bingo is the bingo callers. They make the game fun, and keep players of their toes. Players need to listen carefully, as callers use special bingo terms for numbers, such as ‘lucky legs’ for number eleven and such. Callers at these halls get to see the player response, which adds to their enthusiasm and good humor.
