We all dream about winning the big one but the odds are extremely weighted against you. They say that there is more chance of you stopping a stranger in the street and guessing their phone number including the area code, than there is in winning the lottery.

However, millions of people still play on a daily basis, on the hope that their numbers will come up and that their lives will be changed forever.

So what can you do to increase your chances of winning?

Firstly – Buy more entries into each draw. The more entries that you have, the more chance you have of winning. That’s quite easy to understand.

Secondly – With your extra tickets, have an effective mathematical formula to select your numbers and therefore reduce your odds. Do not use random number generators, birthdays or favourite numbers to choose the numbers.

So lets look at an example of a mathematical formula that is proven to reduce the odds. This formula is based upon ensuring that there upon the lottery draw you are guaranteed to have at least one number in a ticket. It requires 44 tickets and works with a six number draw. It works as follows:

Pick 5 numbers at random, for example 04 15 23 29 43. You will use these numbers in all of your tickets. The sixth number needs to simply be a sequential number from 01 through to 49. So you will have numbers as follows

04 15 23 29 43 01
04 15 23 29 43 02
04 15 23 29 43 03
04 15 23 29 43 05
04 15 23 29 43 06
04 15 23 29 43 07
04 15 23 29 43 08
04 15 23 29 43 09
04 15 23 29 43 10
04 15 23 29 43 11
04 15 23 29 43 12
04 15 23 29 43 13
04 15 23 29 43 14
04 15 23 29 43 16

and so on and so on until you have 44 tickets. This means that in the series of tickets, you will be guaranteed to have at least one ticket containing at least one number. So for example if the number 07 is drawn, you will have one ticket containing this, however if the number 04 is drawn, you will have 44 tickets containing this number.

This then leads to a multi win approach. For example if at least two of your first five numbers are drawn, you are guaranteed at four three number wins.
Lets look at this, if the numbers drawn in the lottery are 01 04 23 28 42 44 using the above ticket sequence, you would get four three number winning tickets as you hold tickets that contain 01 04 23, 04 23 28, 04 23 42 and 04 23 44.

If three of your main numbers were drawn you would get two four number wins and 42 three number wins.

And so on and so on.

Now I appreciate that to have 44 tickets in each weekly draw is extremely expensive. One solution to this would be to join a syndicate with 43 friends so that you reduce your own personal costs whilst still increasing your chance of winning.
