The Physical Properties Of Space

Over the last few decades the quantum theory has grown increasingly strange with the advent of M-theory and parallel universes, as well as increasingly complex and seemingly chaotic. The real problem becomes obvious once you try to marry gravity with relativity, which up until now only string theory has been able to do, but at the expense of simplicity and believability. Even though these newest theories of multiple dimensions and parallel universe’s are rapidly becoming the accepted beliefs of the day leaving the laws of physics strictly up to probability and chance, there are still many people that simply can’t accept this idea. Simply put, the physical community must continue it’s motivation to speculate on how to fit gravity into relativity while continuing to build on the proven properties of quantum mechanics so that we might again restore “order” to the universe. After all, how could we possibly expect to further our understanding and technology by simply leaving the laws of the universe up to the laws of probability and chance?

I believe that the theory that I will lay out here will simply and logically marry Einstein's theory of relativity to gravity and the basic core of string theory, however much of the "frill" of string theory such as "parallel universes" and 11 dimensions, while not disproved, are no longer a necessity for the core belief to work. The predictions that I will propose in this paper are nothing more than simple and logical interpretations based on existing knowledge that so far as I know do not contradict past experiments, yet at the same time offering suggested experiments that could quite significantly distinguish these predictions from our current knowledge.

Based on my interpretations of existing knowledge proven by the physical community leads me to predict that space it's self has physical manipulative properties as well as energetic properties (however a question still remains if energy is created by space, or if space simply conducts energy from yet another unknown source). I base the idea on this: we all know that space can be warped or bent, and that time is fluid, ever-flowing, and is relative meaning time can be slowed or accelerated according to relation (time dilation). If space and time are considered as one, space then must also be fluidic, ever-flowing, and can also be slowed, and if space can be bent or warped then you MUST believe that space it’s self possesses these physical properties. This idea is reminiscent of a long dropped theory of a universal “aether” believed to have been disproved by the Michelson-Morley experiment testing for the “aether wind” by measuring the position of refracted light beams believing that the position of the beams should chance as the planet moved due to the fact that in some position it would be traveling against the “aether wind”. Of course there was no difference seemingly disproving the idea of an aether, but what if this proverbial “aether” were space it’s self? And what if the pushing of this spatial “ether” were pushing on all sides equally regardless of it’s point in space or relation? This takes me back now to the old riddle of "is light a particle or wave?" The problem was that light seemed to have both properties of a particle and a wave, but considering the properties of space I believe that light is in fact a particle creating a wave in space. The Nobel committee recognized Roy J. Glauber for "his contribution to the quantum theory of optical coherence." Glauber laid the foundations of quantum optics, showing how the powerful tools of quantum mechanics could be applied to optics. Previously, optics had relied on classical physics, which treated light exclusively as though it were wave-like. Glauber’s work in the 1960’s addressed the fact the particle nature of light was becoming more apparent with the development of lasers. My point is simple, if particles seem to also have wave properties than by shear logic you must believe that the particles are creating a wave in something. Now if there is no material such as air or water to create a wave in, then you must at least consider the idea that the particles are creating waves in space.

Now, as we consider the properties of space we have to wonder how it applies to gravity. We've all seen the diagram of the planet or star surrounded by a grid that warps around the object, we all believe now days that gravity is the effect of an object falling through warped space & I think that we are indeed on to something there. I will take this proposition a step further and say that gravity is not a force at all, rather a result of the force of space pushing. Now if you consider gravity simply as a result of a force then this could give us the reason why gravity is such a weak phenomenon compared to the other forces of the universe such as electromagnetism as well as the strong and weak nuclear forces. Just consider this, place a paperclip on a table and the take a small refrigerator magnet and hold it over the paperclip, obviously the small magnet beats the entire mass of the earth and lifts the paperclip. Some have proposed that the reason for the weakness of gravity is because it is bleeding through multiple realities or universes, but wouldn’t it seem more logical if we just consider the idea that gravity is simply a result of a force instead of a force it’s self? Consider space ever-flowing like a stream of water, as the water comes to a rock in the stream the water must "warp" around the rock in order to continue it's flow, it's the exact same effect, but with space it is ever-flowing in all directions which is somewhat difficult to fathom but consider some of the proposed ideas of super string or M-theory and it doesn't seem that far out there. The most logical explanation for this equal flow on all sides would be to suggest that space flows in a sort of stitch pattern, much like the individual threads in a shirt only interconnected in all three dimensions. Let me also suggest that as the water from the stream exerts less force around a porous object than a solid object, so goes the flow of space. Essentially the more dense an object, the harder space pushes against it, in turn creating more intense gravity, this would hold true to the current knowledge we have on the super gravity like that of a black hole. This picture shows the current thinking of gravity bending space around an object, but look at it and consider the proposition I just made of the flow of space being interrupted by the mass resulting in gravity around the object.

So how could we fit gravity into relativity & string theory? The answer is simple in my opinion; if we consider gravity not as a force, rather the result of the force from the flow of space pushing, gravity should now fit nicely into place.

In string theory the core of the idea lies in the vibration of the string, and that vibration needing room to vibrate within the universe is what has led to the “M theory” and parallel universes as a way to try and make sense of this vibration. This began with the question of why we couldn't pinpoint the exact single location of sub-atomic particles. In fact, it seemed that these particles could be in two places at once and began to seemingly break away from Einstein's theories. How could we explain something being in two places at once? Well, enter the chaos theory, where you could go to sleep in your bed tonight but wake up on the other side of the universe in the morning simply because of the laws of probability. From here the theory just got more and more strange.

If we all take a step back to the beginning of this theory back to when we first came across the sub-atomic particle seeming to have no single location and apply the properties of space maybe we can find a more logical solution. I propose that these sub-atomic particles are simply warping space/time. Couldn't this explain the illusion of these particles being in more than one place at the same time? I propose that as the "string" vibrates, the very speed is closer to the speed of light and is warping space/time which is giving off this illusion of being in more than one place at the same time, this is how the string finds the room for it's vibration and since space/time is relative, to us it looks like it is in two places at once. If we could somehow move our perception in relation to the subatomic particle I suggest that we could indeed pinpoint the singular location of the particle. We don't need 10 or 11 dimensions for the string to vibrate, it only needs 4, that is the 3 dimensions of space and the 4th dimension of time. To me this seems natural and does not go against any of the core beliefs of the accepted physical theories. Einstein once said that he could not believe that God would create a universe with out order, and I believe that what I lay out gives us that simple natural order. I may even suggest that the primary source of all energy in the universe is space it's self, we could simply call this phenomenon “primary energy”. This primary energy could indeed be the originating source for all energy in the universe. Figuratively speaking let me suggest that E=MC2 is like having the guts of a computer, but no primary power supply or case to contain it. Add in space/time and you now have that primary power supply and case giving you the completed computer. I say this because matter is simply another manifestation of energy, E=MC2 simply extracts that energy back out of matter, leaving the equation incomplete. To complete the equation we must give it that primary power supply and the case to contain it in, to do this perhaps we could equate it as (primary energy multiplied by it’s self or squared equals light),(light multiplied by it’s self or squared equals matter),(matter multiplied by the speed of light multiplied by it’s self or squared equals secondary energy).

Now that we have our completed computer, that is E=MC2 plus space/time, we can now look back to the beginning of our universe to the big bang. Earlier I mentioned the flow of space comparable to a stream of water, lets go back in time to before the big bang to a time that the only existence was perhaps space/time. I mentioned before that the flow of space can be slowed, if you consider space & time as one, it is the simultaneous effect on space as from time dilation, so think of this as space dilation. As the stream of water from a garden hose slows, the stream begins to lose integrity and therefore collapses. Now consider this with space/time, as the flow begins to slow it begins to lose integrity just as the stream of water from the hose, when the stream collapses in on it's self I believe that it would produce an intense energy giving off light which turned to matter. Physicists at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) in California have succeeded in doing just that by producing particles of matter from very energetic collisions of light. It could even be a type of perpetual motion where we have a big bang after big bang where as the flow of space slows, it collapses giving off a big bang re-energizing it's self, and then doing it all over again.

As for my proposition of space dilation consider this: we can measure time dilation, this we know as fact from the measurement of the rate of decay of particles as they fall to earth. So obviously if you consider space & time intertwined as one entity then space must also be experiencing the same effect. And since we know that we can measure time dilation we can then in turn measure space dilation. From this we should then be able to eventually measure the core primary energy of space flow. And from this let me also say that if we can measure the core energy of space then we most certainly should be able to harness that energy. Dr. Michio Kaku mentions on his website A Russian astrophysicist by the name of Nicolai Kardashev, who categorized what advanced civilizations might be on the basis of energy output. His categories included type I as the ability to harness the power of a planet, type II as the ability to harness the power of a star, & type III as the ability to harness the power of a galaxy. Man kind is categorized as type 0, but if what I propose is credible then we most certainly would have to include a type IV as the ability to harness the primary energy of space it's self.

The key to unlocking the secrets of the universe lies in understanding how and why subatomic particles are able to manipulate space/time on such a small level. Obviously we can’t move around huge masses such as stars or planets to try and manipulate space/time on a macroscopic level, and of course it is impractical to try to manipulate space/time simply on a speed of light level since even though we could in theory manipulate space/time this way, an object would have to travel enormous distances to achieve the desired effects. As I mentioned previously I believe that it is in a string’s very speed of vibration that allows this manipulation, if we could find a way to reproduce this effect on a macroscopic scale then the universe would hold nearly limitless possibilities.

If my theories on the properties of space are correct then in theory we could in a sense "shield" an object from the flow of space (or “aether”) essentially giving it weightlessness through a form of spatial-dynamics much like aerodynamics or hydrodynamics. This could possibly be done, and quite possibly has unknowingly already been done by accident, by using an intense electromagnetic field focused into an optimized shape to shed the space around it. And, if this was achievable then it would be possible to distort the shape in a way that could catch the flow of space in a way to propel the object, which is just one practical use of an endless means of super efficient energy. Yet another practical application if we could in fact unlock the mystery of how subatomic particles manipulate space/time is the theoretic possibility of essentially creating a “hyperbolic time chamber” where we would slow the flow of time within an area relative to the rest of the world through time dilation which could most certainly be of enormous importance to the medical field for everything from transporting a patient to a distant facility, to keeping people alive until an organ donor can be found, to things as mundane as preserving hot meals at a restaurant or keeping fruit and vegetables fresh for insanely long periods of time.
