Be Cautious in Selecting a Hoodia Gordonii Vendor

By:Scott Meyers

There are several issues to consider when evaluating the usefulness and purity of each Hoodia Gordonii product on the market. Even if a product claims to be 100% Hoodia Gordonii, it may not contain enough extract from the part of the plant that carries P57. Lack of regulation of the dietary supplement market enables manufacturers to include useless parts of the plant, and still call their product 100% pure Hoodia Gordonii. At the same time, the pills are virtually useless when it comes to suppressing appetite.

Although there have been some studies conducted to determine if Hoodia Gordonii works, there is no set standard for determining how much P57 is actually required to gain the desired effect. Therefore, no lab will be able to tell you how effective a specific brand will be.

This factor also makes "comparison" sites that sport laboratory information useless in the decision making process. Comparison sites may be used for the purpose of marketing a specific name brand, and therefore may be operated by vendors and manufacturers. If the site sells Hoodia Gordonii, chances are these comparisons were added to the site to try and make their brand look more favorable. Testimonial sites may also be suspect for the same reason.

It is estimated that over 2/3 of all Hoodia Gordonii products on the market contain no plant material at all. Some scammers send legitimate Hoodia Gordonii pills to labs for testing in order to get certification, and then do something else entirely in the manufacture of their product. It is anybody's guess what is actually in those bottles.

Finally, a number of products on the market contain other herbals. These additional ingredients have been on the market for several years. In many cases they do not have the appetite suppressing effects of Hoodia Gordonii. They are included to create additional effects that are not obtained by taking this appetite suppressant, as well as to enhance the product image.

Before purchasing Hoodia Gordonii, it is best to take some precautionary steps. Although this will take time, it may save you a great deal of frustration and loss in the long run. If you are serious about using Hoodia Gordonii for the valuable tool that it is, you will soon realize this is time well spent.

First, make sure there is a toll-free phone number available. Today, there are many, many vendors of Hoodia Gordonii. You may want to take a moment and ask customer service what their procedure is if you have issues with the Hoodia Gordonii. If they tell you that you will need to contact the manufacturer - do that before purchasing the pills.

In all instances, therefore, it is best to call the manufacturer yourself and ask a few questions about the product. Do not make any purchases in the first phone call, or directly afterwards. Observe the pressure that may be placed on you to buy on the spot. Wait a few weeks, and call the same number again, to make sure it is still operational. Because of the rampant black market trade, your supplier could, literally, vanish overnight. Giving some time between your initial discovery of a company and purchase could mean the difference between being conned and avoiding it.

If you are purchasing a product from the United States , it may be worthwhile to check with the FDA, and the FTC to see if they have any information on the manufacturer, as well as the vendor. The attorney general's office in the state where the manufacturer/vendor does business may also be able to help you gain more information about the manufacturer/vendor and their reputation. They may also be able to tell you if any lawsuits or filings have been levied against the manufacturer/vendor for fraud. While these steps may seem disheartening and frustrating, it is much worse to be suckered by a scam artist, or worse yet, risk your health on products that are not what they claim to be.
