Generators - The Features

Generators commonly refer to the devices that convert various kinds of fuels into electricity. Hydro, wind and even solar energy can be transformed into electrical energy through generators. A generator consists of an engine, which converts mechanical energy into electrical energy via the electromagnetic induction process. The process involved is referred to as electricity generation.
Features of generators
A consumer on the lookout of a suitable generator may find it quite difficult to choose a worthy buy. The number of options available with their various features may confuse you, the buyer, much. You need to be clear as to what specific things you are looking for in the generator.
The main generator types commonly used are synchronous generators and induction generators. While synchronous generators can handle power needs round the clock the induction generators are used only for producing power beyond what a synchronous generator produces generally covering power needs above the normal or the baseline needs. Besides, generators can be very large producing power for entire blocks of city. Again, they may be very small when needed as backup by a home or small office in case of power shortage.
The designs of generators are largely determined by the kind of fuel used by them. Commonly gasoline is used as the fuel. However, this does not perform well in cold temperatures. Propane is considered as a better fuel though this comes expensive. It also provides ten percent less power than gasoline. Still using propane does not give rise to starting problems in cold weather and, further, requires less frequent maintenance. Diesel generators are also very useful. They provide good power output. However, though diesel burns more efficiently than gasoline it costs more too.
Utility of generators
Generators offer you assurance of providing power at all times and especially in times of need when the main power supply may go off. Thus, they can ensure that the most essential appliances of the home remain running unhampered even by sudden power cuts. Your important business stock can remain unaffected in the face or irregular power supply by using a generator. Again, in case you take up some adventure trip or go for a picnic in the wild and darkness descends then it is the generator that can come of immense use to you.
