Calligraphy Wedding Invitation
By:Jerry Leung
The most traditional method of creating a wedding invitation card is probably calligraphy. Traditionally, monks would write the wedding invitation for a couple. With a modern interpretation, a calligraphy wedding invitation card can be regard as an invitation card with its contents hand written. On the other hand, you may also have a printer to make your wedding card look like a calligraphy one and print them with modern printing technology.
There are certainly a lot of pros for using calligraphy to create your invitation. Without any surprise, there can also be some drawbacks if you use such an invitation. This article will discuss the different pros and cons of creating an invitation card by using calligraphy.
You can choose to have all your cards written one by one by a calligrapher. The number one advantage is that you can be totally sure that every single card will be a unique one. The writings on each card will be slightly different because it is all written by a human being. Besides, human touches can be added to the card if it is a hand-written one.
As discussed above, another choice of calligraphy wedding invitation is to have a printer to make it look like a calligraphy invitation. By doing this you can ensure that every card will nearly be the same. In fact, some couples would prefer this since they would like all the cards to be identical. Besides, it can be a lot cheaper than having a calligrapher to write all the one hundred cards for you.
Although a calligraphy invitation card can be an interesting one, it is not without problem. We will need to have a professional calligrapher to write the invitations for us unless we are calligraphers ourselves, which may probably be a rare case. Having a calligrapher to write all the cards will imply that you will need to pay a higher amount of money.
Besides, since they are hand-written and some of the cards may be written wrongly. In this case you will need to prepare more blank cards for the calligrapher. For example, you may need to prepare one hundred and fifty blank cards if you are planning to get one hundred finished cards.
You will also have less choices for materials if you are going to have your cards hand-written. There are materials (most probably paper) which can only be used with printing ink. Besides, it may not be possible if you would like to use metal as the material for your wedding invitation.
On the contrary, a printed calligraphy invitation is certainly a cheaper option. The cost will certainly be only a fraction of the hand-written cards. However, you will probably have less options since the "calligraphy" is only made up in computers. They may probably be fonts in computers. Besides, you will not get the kind of human touches that hand-written cards give you.
If you would really want some human-written invitation but limited budget, you may have a third option. You can have a calligrapher to write only once the contents of your invitation. You can then have it scanned into the computer and printed. This can be the best option if you would like to get a real balance between budget and quality.
