Promoting through Search Engine Ranking With Non-Reciprocal Link Building

By:Moe Tamani

One of the most important aspects of a successful search engine positioning strategy is the creation of inbound links that are connected to your website. You may have come across advertisements and even newsletters that talk about the benefits of link exchange. In link exchange, your website link is exchanged with other website links but it works successfully only if the other website targets a similar audience as yours or it can enhance reciprocal linking in any way. Such a scenario will definitely help your website get higher rankings.

Linking can be reciprocal or non-reciprocal and the latter has 2 distinct advantages over reciprocal links. The first advantage is that the non-reciprocal links holds more weight because of their non-reciprocal nature. It is easier for search engines to detect reciprocal links. The second advantage that a non-reciprocal link will have is that they will not be monitored the way most reciprocal links are. If you have reciprocal links then you will have to look out for unethical webmasters who can bring your link down. You need to be constantly aware of such webmasters and try to remove their links from your website as soon as possible.

These are just a few of the benefits of non-reciprocal link building but the question is how can you successfully do it? There are different ways of ensuring successful non-reciprocal link building and some of them are:

Providing useful or good content
Good content is like a goldmine. Content differentiates one website from another and is the thin line that separates success from failure. Some people or websites may link to your website just because your website has content that is useful for their customers.

If the content on your website is interesting and informative and is updated on a regular basis then there are many people who will try to link to you. One link is worth a lot of traffic and the increase in traffic to your website through such non-reciprocal links will enhance your search engine positioning.

Directory listings enhance non-reciprocal link building
Directory listings are considered as one of the easiest methods of obtaining non-reciprocal links. There is a condition though: you website needs to have excellent content, which will be value addition to other sites or for readers. Most of the directories will list your website only after you pay a small review fee.

Some of the popular directories include the Yahoo! Directory but it comes with an exorbitant price tag of $299 and hence is not the best option for a single listing. Another popular directory listing service is DMOZ or Open Directory Project and the only drawback is that it can take months to get listed here.

There is some secondary directory listing services also, which includes directories that are topic-specific. Most of the topic-specific directories are considered a valuable source of non-reciprocal link building to your website. The advantage is that you will be able to get quality traffic generated by your listing. The only aspect that you should check is that the directory used for non-reciprocal link building should rank well.

Submissions
Article submission is one of the most popular methods of enhancing search engine positioning through non-reciprocal link building. Although writing good articles may seem like a long and painful process but they are a great option for driving targeted traffic.

Once you have completed writing an article, you will have to find the right website to publish it. There are thousands of article directories but you need only the top directories that have a good ranking so that you can benefit from their ranking. The second important aspect is that your article title should have the key phrase that is relevant to your business or website or target audience.

The higher the number of article submissions directories, the better your chances are for driving targeted traffic to your website and this will also help in strengthening the search engine positioning.

Of course non-reciprocal link building can not be achieved overnight but once you achieve it, you will realize the immense potential it has over the internet.
