Quick Review of Veronica Mars The TV Show on UPN

By:Laura Hickey

I had seen the commercials on UPN for Veronica Mars but didn’t check it out when it first started airing. One night while channel surfing I found the show on another network and gave it a try. I’d become immersed in this Veronica character. Seeing a female character that would stand up for not only herself but others was refreshing. Not to mention she’s not afraid to get her hands dirty. Her father owns his own PI called Mars Investigation. Not the most jazzy name but it works. For several episodes Veronica’s mother has been MIA. Recently we’ve found out that Veronica’s father isn’t her biological father. Oh and Veronica’s boyfriend at the beginning of the season ends up being her half brother. But then in the finale season episode we find out that her father really is her biological father. Whew!

In between all this are student problems such as nailing who’s stealing student’s ID’s, their dogs and exploiting videos between teen lovers. Sound like a soap opera? In a way it is, but without the longing looks into the distance and sappy music. The main story that has been going on throughout each episode is who killed Veronica’s best friend Lilly Kane? And why would someone take the fall and go to jail? Smart, sassy and a much cooler sexier version of the Nancy Drew series, this show has my vote for thumbs up.

You can read up on episodes and other information on Veronica’s Desktop which has her diary, notes, information on characters and more at http://www.upn.com/shows/veronica_mars/index.php
