Colon Cleansing - Healthy Eating Is Easy
By:Timothy Russell
There are numerous products to clean out your colon. While cleaning your colon can be a very rewarding experience many people forget to eat right while doing so. Here are so tips on what to do and not to do.
The things to steer clear of while going through a colon cleanse.
Much of what passes for food these days can in fact do extensive damage to the colon and the entire digestive system. Most of the things you should do are very common sense stuff your Mother taught you.
Stay away from things such as artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives. All of these ingredients raise the load on your digestive system. In addition, processed or enriched foods can cause real problems.
Do not consume soda, candy, or fried foods. Fast food also is a simple no-no. A universal rule to remember is if it is not natural do not eat it!
Make sure your meats are not processed. Luncheon meats, hot dogs, bacon, and others are typically very processed and have a large amount of additives and preservatives in them.
Maybe the best thing you can do is drink lots of water. Eight glasses a day is a minimum, the more the better. Many dieters have had luck just cutting soda out of their diets. If you have just two sodas per day that is a pound and a half of pure fat you are losing per month without any change in your habits! Water also has the unique distinction of filling you up with no calories very fast.
Organic food is one way to reduce the amount of toxins in your body, and it has recently been shown that organic foods contain higher amounts of nutrients than non-organic foods.
For kids, snacks can be a part of every day life. Snacks give energy so they can finish homework and play outside rather than collapse in front of the TV. These snacks can be fruits, vegetables, or lean meats.
Resist the temptation to buy the prepackaged snack foods at the grocery store. These are full of sugars and salt.
Lastly, get your fiber either in supplement form or in foods that are high in fiber.
High fiber foods include:
Fruits
o Pears
o Figs
o Blueberries
o Apples with Skin
Grains
o Pasta (wheat)
o Ban Flakes
o Oatmeal
o Whole Wheat Bread
Legumes
o Lentils
o Lima Beans
o Black Beans
o Almonds
Vegetables
o Peas
o Artichokes
o Brussels Sprouts
o Boiled Turnip Greens
