Here's My Quandary...

Here’s My Quandary…
How do I get traffic to my newly built website?
So, I went looking and here’s what I found out. Let’s say, you just created a website hoping to make a fortune on the internet, but then quickly realized that everybody else is doing the same thing. You also figured out that without effective website advertising, the product or service you are trying to promote would never have a chance to be seen by the general public without some kind of luck.
Unfortunately, many promising businesses fail because of ineffective internet marketing strategies. In their quest to get eyeballs to their websites, most online marketers don't realize there's a big difference between driving “General" traffic to their website and driving "Targeted" traffic. Everyone is always trying to find ways to promote their site, to get it noticed by viewers and by the search engines. What you’re really looking for are “Targeted” visitors to your site!
"Targeted" traffic is made up of people who are genuinely interested in what you have to say or sell online. These people either share the same interests or have an immediate need or problem they are trying to solve. "Targeted" traffic is best because the people scanning your website have a much higher likelihood of actually making a purchase.
“Targeted” traffic comes from people following recommended links on other sites, typing in relevant keywords into the search engines, or even reading articles you've written on a particular subject. This will then cause them to click over to your site for more information.
I have found 3 basic methods of getting traffic to your website or affiliate program.
Pay-Per-Click
If you have the money to invest in Google or some of the other search engines, pay-per-click programs can make you some money. Here you create an ad/ads relevant to your website or affiliate program, and place a bid on the keywords you select. This takes time, energy, persistence, money, and research. Also, I would advise that you read your affiliate programs’ rules, as well as, the rules of Google Adwords before jumping into the pay-per-click arena. You usually have to put “aff” after your ad or something similar to that. It’s
dependent upon the affiliate program that you are in. The idea with pay-per-click is that you pay only when the visitor clicks on your ad.
Linking
Linking can be by either paid or unpaid methods. The paid methods are paying for your link to be shown in ezines, newsletters or on other peoples sites. It can be costly, so the best suggestion that I can give you is to research the ezines, newsletters and or other peoples sites that you want to link with before buying. Know what you are getting before you put down your money, and be sure to read the fine print.
The unpaid method is through article creation and submission. This requires hard work, on your part, but the return will be seen in the long term. Keep in mind, your articles should be relevant and address the subject matter of your site and products. Content-Reigns-King on the internet! So, make sure your content is relevant to their needs and they will eventually come to discover it.
Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Optimization is basically the optimization of your web pages so that you can get a decent ranking by the search engines. This will pull people to your website by its relevance. This is a difficult chore and needs to be continually worked at. Always stay within the ethics of the Search Engines.
To conclude… getting “Targeted” visitors to your website is really part of growing your business. Let it be known that “Internet Marketing isn’t for the faint-of -heart!” But for the determined, persistent individual who really wants to make a living online.
Thus, if you really want to make a living online – Don’t give up and promote.
I figure this should give you a place to begin.
