Car Hire And Females Are A Bad Mix

By:Catherine Harvey

Why is it never a good idea to let your wife use car hire services? There are certain things you expect when you get into a car after your wife and few of them are favourable. When your car is off the road and you have had to use car hire do something to make sure she doesn't get behind the wheel. You wallet will live to regret it when you take the car back to the hire company and they inspect it, lumbering you with all those extra charges for the things that only women do.

Let's take a look at women preparing for a car journey. Even if it's a simple shopping trip she will pack a make-up bag for those little emergencies. It would never cross her mind to check the car hire vehicle for things like spare wheel, tools or blanket in the case of a real emergency. Just so long as she has her lip gloss for a make-up emergency, like the ones' where she get's pulled over by an apparently gorgeous police man!

And why should her car hire vehicle get pulled over by any policeman - gorgeous or not? Because she's speeding, that's why. And why is she speeding? Because she has those ridiculously high heels jammed in the carpet and can't ease her foot off the accelerator! She thinks batting her eyelashes at the said policeman will get her off the hook but who, I ask you, is going to be paying the fine when it comes through?

Once the little woman is on her journey in her car hire vehicle, she'll get comfortable. So comfortable, in fact, that she will forget where she is. Child rearing knows no bounds and just because she's driving don't get complacent and think that she will concentrate on the road and not on diffusing the arguments between the rugrats on the back seat. This is why, they say, they wear high heels when driving. Apparently, they claim they can steer a car with their heel whilst reaching into the back and chastising the kids.

You'll also notice the women in the car hire vehicles at the petrol pumps. They will be the ones who step out of the car with a confused look on their faces as to where the petrol goes. Yes, they've driven your car before but if the petrol cap is on the other side of the car this will leave them totally confused and no fuel will make it into the car.

Try getting into the car hire after your woman has used it! Physically impossible! The steering wheel will be fixed up against the windscreen and rubbish will be knee deep, from sweet wrappers to coke cans to wine bottles, all belonging to someone else apparently.

Even if you find a way of dissuading your woman from driving the car don't even take her to the car hire company. Fuel consumption, reliability, size requirements - none of these things come into consideration when your wife is car shopping. You will end up coming away with the 'cutest' looking car in the car lot. This is an underhanded attempt on her behalf to embarrass you to the point of not wanting to drive and letting her take over the car.

Just be aware that if you let down your guard and this happens you will be footing the bill for the drained petrol tank, the rubbish removal and the dented bumper that happened when she was applying her lipstick in the rear view mirror instead of looking where she was going.
