Mesothelioma: From Minor Problem To Cancer
By:John Porter
A minor chest pain had occurred when you woke up one morning. The chest pain continued with some breathing troubles. But everything was okay after a few days. Then again you found that you have started losing pounds but you were not on diet and not even expecting something like that to happen. The doctor took a thorough history of your health conditions but the past record stated that you have been leading a very fit life for the past twenty years. Then what was wrong with you?
The moment you revealed that you were an employee of an asbestos manufacturing company, things began to become clear and finally the diagnosis was confirmed that you are suffering from Mesothelioma cancer.
How severe is the disease?
Mesothelioma cancer attacks your abdomen, lungs and chest and even the heart region. Three major systems of the human body at once get affected with the Mesothelioma attack. And there is no suitable treatment yet discovered to completely heal the patient. With some medicinal supplements and therapies the patient's death hour can be prolonged but the patient cannot be assured of total cure.
What exactly happens due to the exposure of the patient's body to asbestos? Water is accumulated in the chest cavity outlining the lungs. From this point the chest pain takes place. The doctor confirms this with the help of CT Scan and a chest X-ray. And finally the detection is assured when the biopsy report states that it is Mesothelioma cancer.
Possible treatments
Mesothelioma cannot be cured but you can lead a steady life till you die. In some cases doctors prescribe for surgical treatment. Chemotherapy is also a known solution to let the patient continue with his normal chores along with the treatment. There is another type of therapy held through radiation method and is used to treat Mesothelioma patients.
The treatment procedure is settled as per the condition of the patient. Again it is also suggested to undertake one way of treatment at a time.
Legal standpoint
Mesothelioma though an incurable disease can be fought on legal grounds. Heavy compensation can be demanded from the manufacturer of the asbestos company where you have worked or in some way you had come in contact with asbestos and the manufacturer is responsible for that. You must by now know that using asbestos in any form is illegal in the present context. At least before you die you must take the initiative to fight for your legal right and provide your family with the financial security as much as you can.
