Link Building Explained

By:Roberto Bell

To successfully optimize your website, it is crucial that you have a good link exchange program. The link popularity of your site is very important to search engines like Google. While adding a large amount of content to your site is very important, you will have to wait for other webmasters to link to it. This can take a long time, since you have to wait on the search engines to send you traffic for specific keywords. Another problem you will have to deal with is people stealing your content.

Having a good link building program can solve these problems. It will allow your site to be promoted, and even if someone tries to rip off your site, you will have made a powerful presence on the internet, and the people stealing your work will be exposed. There are three techniques which webmasters use to market their sites. These techniques are link building programs, back-link networks, and directories. With a link exchange program, you will build a directory on your site in which your visitors can exchange links. Using paid directories is effective because it can allow you to get one way links to your site. The search engines place a lot of emphasis on one way links. Getting your site listed in large directories like DMOZ can bring about excellent results for your site.

You can contact webmasters which have themes that are similar to yours, and you can request a link exchange. Some will be interested in exchanging links, while others will not. It will usually take a long time for you to build up the link popularity of your site if you use this method. A back-link network will require you to invest both large amounts of money and time. This network will be composed of sites that will link back to your site as a way of promoting it among the search engines. While this method can be effective within a short period of time, Google may devalue links which come from a single IP subnet. To solve this problem, you may have to invest money in webhosting.
