It's a pastime for many, a career for others and just plain fun to do. Keeping up with Hollywood gossip, however, can be a full-time job with all the comings and goings of big name stars.

Faster than an industry magazine, speedier than a television newscast and loaded with more up-to-date information than 10 sets of encyclopedias combined, the Internet is one of the best places to go to hear all the juicy gossip out of Hollywood. Loaded with more fodder for gossip than a family reunion, Hollywood is ripe with stories that break at all hours of the night and day.

From movie stars and rock stars to soap actors, producers, writers and more, those who make Hollywood their home have done so at a price. By stepping into the spotlight, these people have opened up their lives for their fans. Their day-to-day comings and goings are the things headlines are made of. People want to know who they're seeing, what they're doing, what they look like without their make up and more.

Considering the sheer popularity of the Hollywood set and the glamour they exude, it's little wonder the gossip surrounding them is so prevalent. From pregnancies and break ups to who's getting paid what to be in which movie, the amount of information on stars is unbelievable.

For those interested in gossip out of Hollywood, here's a basic run down of the kinds of information they'll be able to find online, in newspapers and even magazines:

* Dating/marriage and family issues. This is perhaps one of the hottest areas of gossip. People want to know who is seeing who and whose heart has been broken. They want to know about babies, pregnancies, break ups and more. Heck, information about vacations and favorite destinations can even be found running around the gossip mill.

* Current/upcoming projects. Star watchers want to know what's coming out, when and who will be cast in certain roles. Even those not in to normal "gossip" follow this stuff. It's fun to know where your favorite actor or actress will appear next. Or, what project your favorite writer, producer or director is planning to take on. Or even who is going to be cast in the next big blockbuster.

* Arrests. It's always big news, tabloid and beyond, when a star gets arrested. Somehow it makes them seem "more real," more human and more like the rest of the world.

* Political statements. Since the McCarthy era and beyond Hollywood has been known for its various political leanings. People want to know what the stars think about issues as far reaching as world hunger, AIDS, wars, taxes and so on. With stars becoming spokespeople for the likeminded, Hollywood activism has taken on a life of its own.

These topics and more can all be found online in an abundance that will make some people's heads spin. When it comes to gossip, the Internet is afire with it. Since the ability to update news sites, blogs and more is so fast, if it happened 10 minutes ago it can already be on the web.

Whether pursuing Hollywood gossip is simple interest or an obsession, fans will find no shortage of information on stars, their activities and beyond.
