Beneath the Shimmering Blue Lagoon Lies in Bora Bora
By:Wolfgang Jaegel
Bora Bora is an enchanting island destination, situated in the Society Island Group's Leeward Society group in the French Polynesia. Situated about 250 kilometers north-west of Papeete, Bora Bora is a stunningly relaxing place, and is a sought after destination for romantic getaways, with its incredible scenery, valleys filled with exotic flowers, coral beaches, impressive sparkling waters, and two towering peaks.
Apart from these, Bora Bora is also much famed for its mysterious as well as romantic legends that are associated with this island. In short, Bora Bora is truly a paradise on the earth. Hence, it is not a wonder why the destination has been flocked by a large number of newly weds, honeymooners, couples, and lovers from across the world per year.
Despite anything, what that set apart Bora Bora from other islands in Society Archipelago as well as French Polynesia is undoubtedly its brilliant multicolored lagoon, which is within a protective coral akin to necklace and bounded by small offshore islets. In fact, words are not enough to express the unspoilt beauty of the lagoon as well as its turquoise waters.
Located on the southern tip of the island, Matira Point is one of the most popular tourist spots in Bora Bora. The lagoon in this area is shallow, thereby making it a great spot for diving. Found on the west of the Matira Point is the Matira Beach, which is much popular among the holidaymakers.
In this area, the lagoon is quite deep and hence a favorite spot for swimming. Kayaking and water skiing facilities are also made available in this area. In order to experience the beauty of the lagoon, no other option would be better than taking a day cruise along the stunning waters of the lagoon. There are service providers that render cruises in the form of packages covering cruising along the lagoon, picnic in a secluded motu (islet), lunch, and facilities to enjoy activities such as scuba diving and kayaking.
For diving enthusiasts, there are some exceptional diving spots on the outer reef of the lagoon, which in turn makes Bora Bora one of the finest destinations for scuba diving in the South Pacific. With a countless species of tropical fishes, beautiful coral gardens, and crystal-like clear waters, the lagoon provides divers with an exhilarating expedition. Sometimes, divers can even swim along with such rare species of marine life as dolphins and non dangerous sharks.
However, in order to experience and enjoy the beauty of the lagoon and its enchanting marine life, you needn't have to be a veteran diver or swimmer. All you have to do is to take a tour to lagoonarium, which is in the form of an outdoor aquarium displaying the marine life of the lagoon. Almost all types of native creatures are represented, and you can see and feed here marine species such as manta rays, whales, turtles, sharks, and dolphins. In addition, lagoonarium also provides visitors with services of well trained as well as expert guides.
Aside lagoon and water sport activities, Bora Bora also offers excellent options for enjoying recreational activities such as bicycle riding, casual walking, billiards, tennis, and volleyball. A host of options are also available for adventurers in the form of 4x4 safaris, hiking and climbing, and parasailing. For sightseers, the destination presents a feast of attractions, which among many others, are ancient Maraes or open temples and World War II bunkers and cannons. Also, while your stay here, don't miss to see Tahitian dancing, which is noted for its unique, spectacular steps. Above all, for lovers of art and crafts, the island has some superb art galleries.
When comes to accommodation, Bora Bora boasts of a great number of choices according to tastes and budget of travelers. If you are well-heeled, then it would be better to go for accommodation such as upscale hotels or high-end resorts replete with superb facilities and amenities.
For visitors seeking privacy but at the same luxury, perhaps the best option would be over water bungalows, which as the name indicates, built over the shallow waters of the stunning lagoon. All of these bungalows are tastefully decorated and complete with all facilities and amenities that an upscale hotel or resort renders.

Our Pauper loves to save money using an airfare consolidator. These consolidators contract with airlines to get tickets at cheaper rates than the general public. Because they buy large blocks of tickets the airlines love them.
Though you can get really good deals by knowing how to use consolidators, remember they are not structured for great service.
