Forget Bora Bora Visit Aitutaki
By:Lucy Tucker
The Etu Moana Hotel is situated right on one of the most beautiful and pristine lagoons in the whole of the South Pacific.
If you stay in villa 1 then you will have simply the most stunning white sand beaches in full and very private view, and a sea that is so aqua blue as to defy description. In addition the reef in front offers great snorkeling.
Personally I can’t see why people rave about Bora-Bora, when you can visit Aitutaki.
I find it difficult to describe accommodation as a hotel, when it doesn’t have a restaurant, so you have to eat out. Having said that the Etu Moana hotel serves a superb breakfast by the pool.
It has something I’ve only encountered once before and that is an Honesty Bar, just take what you want and write it down, so you can have a drink whenever you want!!
If you want to you can rent scooters, or take one of the bicycles, and there are plenty of good restaurants at a variety of prices well within cycling range. If you prefer you can take a taxi.
Two restaurants well worth a visit are The Café Tupana, up in the hills, or The Samade Beach Village restaurant. In any case you will not be short of recommendations on places to eat.
The villas are special, very luxurious, and spacious, with a well fitted kitchenette, complete with filtered running water, which you may need to use on the Sunday evening as not much is open. They also had a massive deck, bedroom with king size bed, big shower, and there is also an outdoor shower. Each villa is very private with lush gardens that are totally fenced off.
Whilst in Aitutaki you must take a lagoon cruise, and if you can, take a smaller glass bottomed boat. I don’t know about you, but I prefer my sightseeing trips to be en famille as opposed to en masse!!
You’ll get a barbeque lunch, and you may even see humpback whales.
Whilst you are at it you will probably be taken to ‘ One Foot Island ‘ what a name, and what a stamp to have on your passport.
Etu Moana and Aitutaki are definitely worth going back to.

Our Pauper loves to save money using an airfare consolidator. These consolidators contract with airlines to get tickets at cheaper rates than the general public. Because they buy large blocks of tickets the airlines love them.
Though you can get really good deals by knowing how to use consolidators, remember they are not structured for great service.
