A Contractor and Temporary Workers view: The problem with paper timesheets
By:Tom Jacobs
Most contractors and temps find timesheet submission a boring and arduous task. Nobody likes paperwork on a Friday afternoon. Chasing your manager for a signature can often be a problem too. Many managers travel with work regularly and aren't available when you need your timesheet signed. Furthermore, when you've got them signed, your timesheets can be lost in the system or incorrectly processed by your recruitment agency. What a headache!
Postal delays
The postal system a headache for submitting timesheets to your agency. Most agencies cite delays in the post as being one of their biggest problems with getting the payroll done on time. Furthermore, often the fax machine causes a bottleneck at the agency on Friday afternoon and the worker often has to leave work with their timesheets in the fax machine send queue, not knowing if or when the timesheet will be sent.
Lost timesheets
Sometimes your timesheet can simply be 'lost in the system'. When this happens, depending on your agencies timesheet system, you may need to wait for a new timesheet from your agency to be sent out with a unique timesheet reference number from the agency.
Data entry errors
If your timesheets arrive at your agency intact occasionally data entry errors can occur when the agency data entry operators are entering your timesheets into their payroll system.
e-timesheetz: A single solution for managing your timesheets today, and tommorow
As a contract or temporary worker, e-timesheetz provides you with the ability to maintain and store your timesheets and expenses online. Additionally, we can have your timesheets and expenses transmitted to your manager for approval (authorisation) and/or recruitment agency for payment if they use e-timesheetz as well.
Most contract and temporary workers work at many different sites over time. e-timesheetz gives you a single login account for all of your past, present and future job assignments. This means that e-timesheetz maintains a complete historical listing of all your timesheets in one place making it easy to resolve ad-hoc queries that may occur in the future.
Ultimate control of your timesheets and piece of mind
If your agency supports e-timesheetz timesheet submission, you can be sure that there will be no data-entry errors when your timesheet is processed by your agencies payroll processing department. This means that you can always be sure you are paid for the hours you work. e-timesheetz gives contract and temporary workers piece of mind. You control the contents of your timesheet and it cannot be lost or altered by anyone else.
No more chasing signatures: Timesheet approval (authorisation) is easy
Online timesheet authorisation by managers means no more chasing your manager for a signature on a Friday afternoon. When you submit your timesheet at the end of the week, that's your job done. When your manager logs into e-timesheetz they can authorise it quickly and easily from any location with access to a web browser and the internet. When your timesheet has been authorised it is automatically sent to your agency for payment.
