Even if you are never going to sell the jewelry, getting an appraisal will give you even more detailed information about the items and the current market value. This is a document that insurance companies do not necessarily require if you have a certificate of authenticity, but the appraisal document will help you get the appropriate coverage for your jewelry.

When you have obtained an appraisal for you jewelry, the next thing you should consider is the insurance. If it is jewelry that you will probably keep at home and might not wear often, then you can probably have it added to your home owner's policy. If you think you might wear the piece or pieces quite often, then you might consider an individual policy specifically for your jewelry.
