Christmas catalogs bring memories of childhood back to most of us. And the other day when it came in the mailbox with other mailers and bills, it was a big surprise. It brought back memories of how my sister and I used to go through the catalog and choose the games and gifts that we found attractive and leave them marked under the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. This was accompanied by a glass of milk and cookies for Santa. We assumed that Santa Claus would pick up the catalog and know what we were looking for making it simpler for him to choose the gifts that he would leave for us. It would save him a lot of effort of going through the details of the letters that children across the world wrote to him.
Today, Santa Claus has been replaced by the Internet and we choose items from the net and add to our shopping carts. The process is even simpler wherein we can access the list of items and sort them by cost, category or size. We can also check whether the item of our choice is in stock and available for us to purchase. Bulk orders can attract extremely good discounts as well. As soon as a purchase is made, we are intimated the weight and size of the parcel, the expected date of arrival and the total cost. The companies also provide a shipping number that can be used to track the progress of the shipment.

It is especially a boon for those who do not enjoy shopping in the midst of all the rush and crowd.
