Creating Your First Scrapbook Page Layout

By:Vicki Churchill

If you are new to scrapbooking then creating your first scrapbook page may seem like a daunting task. As long as you take your time and plan things accordingly you will soon find that creating scrapbook page layouts is a really fun and rewarding past time.

The first thing you need to do is find some pictures and put them into categories. Gather as many as you can so you have lots to choose from. Consider who the scrapbook is for when choosing these pictures so that they are ones that person will want to see.

Once you have put your pictures into categories such as birthday, wedding, get together, Christmas etc. as you are sorting the pictures try to remember as much as you can about the event, where it was held, when it was and who attended.

Once you have everything in order you need to choose one category that you wish to use for your scrapbook page layout. Take a close look at all the pictures from the chosen event and decide which ones are good enough to go on the scrapbook page. Remember you do not need to use lots of pictures anything from 1-3 will do.

If you are going to write a lot and add this to your scrapbook page you may need to reduce the number of pictures you are using. Try not to waffle when journaling, stick to the main points, names, dates and venues. You can also add scrapbook quotes to describe the mood of the day.

Use scrapbook papers and embellishments to jazz up the scrapbook page layout but try not to over do it. Many new scrapbookers smother their pages in embellishments and lose sight of the importance of the pictures on the page.

Try not to match everything together perfectly and remember to add any memorabilia you have from the event. Adding ticket stubs, receipts and other memorabilia can really make a scrapbook page layout personal and unique.

If you are new to scrapbooking it is well worth laying out your scrapbook page before you permanently fix it down, this was you will be able to see what the end result will be and make any changes you wish to make before its too late.

The main thing to remember is to enjoy it, make sure you have plenty of time to sit down, relax and take pleasure in creating your very first scrapbook page layout. As time passed you will soon pick up some excellent tips and ideas that will help you create more and more stunning scrapbook page layouts
