By:John Porter

Sometimes your interest in something takes the shape of an addiction. Many of you are addicted to shopping, T.V. watching (especially children), net surfing, spending big bucks just on gambling and so on. Every addiction has a dark side. Each of these too has some bad effects. But not as bad as drug addiction that can ruin the whole life and lead you towards a dead end.

Who does become a drug addict?

It can be anyone both you and me. Taking a wrong route to reduce the other burdens of life might bring some peace to mind for the time being but for how long? Had the persons involved into drug addiction ever thought of this side?

In maximum case the person picks up addiction as a refuge from the worldly tensions and botherations that finally take the shape of depression. Sometimes the niche of frustration lays in some unsuccessful incident in life. Unable to cope with such a situation you are compelled to take the path of getting addicted to drugs. And you call upon yourself all sorts of unwanted consequences throughout your life. The worst side of drug addiction is that it is not only the person involved in this activity to get affected by this practice. Yes, that person is the direct victim but the family too is badly affected. The entire society is in some way or the other suffers.

A single drug addict present in a residential area may create nuisance and others too can easily come into the trap of addiction staying in his company. Gradually the society starts rejecting these people. They become a sort of burden and finally abandoned.

Where is the right place for the drug addicts?

The ultimate shelter and proper care for the drug addict is a drug rehabilitation center. Rehab centers organize different types of rehab programs to assist the addicted person in every possible way. The benign goal is to allow the person come back to an organized and disciplined life with revival in his mental and physical growth.

The direct attack of the narcotics is on the brain and nervous system. You might have come across such drug victims whose body shivers as if he has been given a current shock. The disease has actually taken a chronic shape and at this stage the person doesn't have any control on his mind and body. Such acute drug addicts can also get a new life under the shelter of the right type of rehabilitation program in a rehab center. He might take a greater time for recovery but he too should be given a chance. What do you think?
