Serious Home Based Business Opportunity - Is It For Me And Tips For Surviving The Initial Phase

Perhaps you are a college student who wants to earn some extra money. Or you are a stay at home mum. Or you have lost your job. Or simply because you hate your job. You hope that one day the income from your home business will exceed your day job income so that you can quit your day job.
At this point of time, you may want to look for a serious home based business opportunity. Before you do that, it is very important to ask yourself this question. "Is it for me?" It is crucial to answer this question as truthfully as possible as it will determine how successful you will be.
Firstly, you need to realize that a home business is very different from your day job. In your day job, you are guaranteed to get a pay cheque at the end of the month. There is a leader in your company who will set the vision and a manager who will allocate tasks to you.
In your home business, there is no such luxury. When you just get started, there is no guarantee that you will get paid at the end of the month. This may continue for several months. It depends on how well you do. In fact, you may even lose money. You need to create your own vision. You need to have a plan of when to execute a particular task. If you do not have any plan, you may be surprise to realize that at the end of a day, you still have not accomplished much.
In other words, you need to ask yourself if you have the discipline and persistence to carry out your day to day task. Secondly, you should ensure that you have enough savings to last you for at least 6 months. Obviously, it will be better if you have some tips to survive your start up phase. Let's go through a few tips.
1) You Can Start Your Home Based Business Part Time
Most home based business can be done on a part time basis. If you really hate your day job and want to quit, it is always better to wait till the income of your home based business exceed your day job. This will at least put food on your table and also provide your some money to invest in your business.
2) Be a Free Lancer
If it is impossible for you to find a job, you can always be a free lancer. Depending on your expertise, you may be able to get freelance project for article writing, forum posting, website design and copywriting etc. Again, this is a good way to generate some income before your home based business takes off. You can easily find many freelance jobs in Rentacoder, Elance etc.
The good news is that with the correct strategy, hard work and persistence, you will be able to succeed in your home based business and generate a very comfortable income.
