Throwing the Perfect Bachelorette Party
By:Morgan Hamilton
Contrary to popular belief and the media's portrayal, it is possible to put together a great bachelorette party without hiring sweaty strippers, getting the bride-to-be fall down drunk, then regretting the entire thing in the morning. Of course, whether or not you want to go with PG rated Disney, or a PG-rated bachlorette party is entirely your decision (especially if you happen to be the maid of honor).
So, how do you decide if it's better to plan an X-Rated bachlorette party or a PG-rated on? You really need to look no further than the bride herself. Remember, this is all about her, not you. Hopefully you already know her pretty well at this point. Is she the sort of girl who wants to walk on the wild side before she takes the plunge, or will she end up being uncomfortable about the situation and regret it later? Some bridesmaids think the bride may be a bit uptight, but that it may not be a bad idea to let her hair down by watching some dude take his clothes off. A lot of times these types of plans blow up though, leaving just about everyone feeling uncomfortable and wanting to go get out of there (even the stripper).
So, let’s say you decide not to go the whole stripper-and-whiskey route, what’s a girl to do on the night (or weekend) before her wedding? Again, it all depends on the bride, and the members of the bridal party to a lesser extent. For example, are the bridesmaids made up of uptight conservatives or sorority party girls? Though a night out on the town drinking and clubbing downtown may be a ton of fun with the college buddies, it’s more than likely not going to be a big hit with the brides’ aunts (then again, it may go over very well with them too). Don’t be afraid to allow the bachlorette party to be somewhat sentimental either, especially if you are reuniting with friends and family the bride hasn’t seen for a long time.
Also don’t be afraid to let your hair down and have a little fun, even if that fun doesn’t mean hitting the bars. Does the bride have a silly side to her? What about a night of playing skee-ball and mini golf or amusement park rides? Does she like to travel? What if the entire bridal party took a trip to for the bachlorette party and whisked the bride off to a fun destination, even if it’s just a hop, skip and jump away in the next state, for dinner and a night on the town? When you’re setting up a bachlorette party just be sure that the activities and the theme fits both the bride and the bridal party, and you’re in line for a really memorable night.
