Having Metal In A Microwave Is Always A Bad Idea
By:Aydan Corkern
For many years now, we have used microwaves to cook our foods and heat food up. We love to microwave foods that are made especially for the microwave, such as Hot Pockets, Pizza Rolls, and anything you can think of. All of our kids today love to heat up water to make their cocoa and to microwave their macaroni dishes for their lunches. There are some dangers that you are not supposed to do with a microwave like putting metal or plastic that cannot be used when you cook anything.
Most people know what will happen if you put these things. But if you don't know what will happen I will tell you. When metal is put into the microwave, you will start to see sparks and if you don't get it out in time, it will explode and start a fire in your kitchen. It also can explode right out the wall or in to another room, causing that room to start on fire. You can have an electrical fire or blow up the fuse box. But sometimes if it is in there for too long and you try to get it out, it also can knock the door right in your face. It can hurt you really bad, and it can sometimes make you bleed.
You have no idea what it can feel like unless you have done it before. If you put a plastic plate on the microwave, you also hear popping and the plate will either break off pieces of the plate or it will break in half. Then you will smell burning. If it melts, it can start a fire, too, and it will stick to the bottom of the microwave. It will be hard to get the food out of the bottom. You will be scrubbing and breaking, trying to get the mass out. You also have to watch out for plates that have metal in it. Sometimes you may not know it until you out it in the microwave. I know people who have done it, and it wasn't pretty. Trust me: the microwave blows up.
All I am telling you is to be careful. Dealing with metal and plastic is dangerous. With plastic you have to make sure you get microwaveable plastic to use in it. With metal, make sure you do not put anything that is made of it in the microwave. Please tell your young one what they should not put in a microwave.
