Nursing in today's world is one of the most respected professions and every nursing student has to go through nursing school, to get certified and licensed as a registered nurse. Grants are usually given by the government, institutions, or even universities to students, to accomplish their goals. The United States job market is quite rigid and tough except for nurses, where the demand still exists. Nowadays nursing students can avail of grants quite easily as compared to earlier. More and more hospitals and nursing homes are coming forward to provide grants, thus increasing the importance of nurses like never before.

Nursing school tuition costs have risen greatly from average $12,000 for the two-year course to $30,000 in some of the private institutions. If you wish to pursue nursing as your career then you simply cannot afford to ignore the tuition cost, so go ahead and make use of the grants.

Nursing school grants are just like gifts given to those who face financial crunch and are generally given by various organizations to those who are interested in pursuing a nursing career. Eligibility requirements for such grants include a good scholastic record, depending on the agency that provides the grant.

The US Government provides one of the best programs known as Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA. Through this esteemed organization, you can get financial aid by applying, based on the high school educational record and the information provided in the FAFSA application form.

Grants are financial aid given freely to students and they don't need to repay, although these grants require the student to work under 'service' areas for one or two years, after they complete their graduation. Unlike some scholarships, grants are given to those students who are in need of financial aid rather than on the basis of their merit or academic excellence.

There are various grants that are offered by various nursing schools and they are not necessarily given to graduating students or to first level nursing students. They are also given to those who pursue advanced courses such as Masters, post graduation or a Doctorate in nursing.

Nursing schools and government and state organizations offer grants for the simple reason that nursing is one of the most significant professions in our society. There is always need for nurses and the healthcare industry today is experiencing a constant shortage. Many organizations are willing to provide grants to lure eligible individuals to pursue nursing as a career.

Nowadays many students are opting for nursing due to availability of grants. However, if there is a lack of initiative on your part then you may not do well in finding and getting help. Time is of essence while applying for grants, as it is critical that you provide actual information in the application form on or before the deadline. Always remember that there is sufficient money out there to fund your education and all you need is to be persistent to reach your goal and live your dream.
