Building a deck, thinking about it ! I’ll show you how to create a nice investment for yourself , your home and your life. By building a unique lighted deck it is so easy and one of the best ways to make the outside of your home look amazing, ( something your neighbors will admire) while adding value as well as a serene place to sit back relax and unwind.

First settle on where your deck is going to go, then really think about a distinctive layout, don’t make it square like everyone else that’s boring ( do we all drive the same cars. No! ), add some texture perhaps octagon or branch off into different size sections. Next remember to make it useful. What do I mean about useful, well think about when you will use it , only on weekends! Why! Low voltage or 110v will require some work, you will need wire, a transformer and maybe an electrician. We recommend when using low voltage deck lights to place them every 5-8 feet apart. Adding too much light will ruin the night effect, remember we are creating a calm place to go , by spanning deck lights 5-8 feet apart will do just this giving just enough light. Some people don’t like the idea of using a transformer , for this reason they make 110volt also. This will use a 25w watt bulb, and regular wiring into the home.

Next is Solar deck lighting, solar is slightly more expensive to purchase, a little dimmer ( not to much with the new technology ) than low voltage but any home owner can install these, they are very easy to mount , no wiring , no electrician , and no electric bill costs. If you are deciding to use solar , you will want to place them a little closer, anywhere from 4-6 feet will do the trick. Remember we’re keeping the starry night affect while complimenting outdoor night living.

When looking to purchase deck lights do not buy the cheap plastic lights that everyone else buys, plastic will crack , break or chip. Always look for quality , durability, tough enough to withstand the environment ,as the elements can take their toll on the materials only purchase weatherproof, aluminum ( so they don’t rust ) deck lighting.
