1). How to Survive your Spouse’s Affair
In order to restore a relationship after your spouse has had an affair you may try the ploy:
"But I've changed, I'm a different person."
And your behavior may have actually changed - some of the time.
You mistakenly may continue to accommodate in different ways or change your behavior to fit your perception of what he/she wants.
Here are some problems with this strategy:
You, most likely, have not changed at all but, rather, are in a
reactive mode by responding to your difficult situation by "grabbing at straws.
2). Is your Marriage at High Risk for Divorce?
Take this quick test:
· Were either of you under 22 when you married?
· Did either of you not get your high school diploma or GED?
· Do you make under $24,000/year as a couple?
· Are you two of different religions?
· Did either of your parents divorce?
· Are you or your spouse very critical of each other ?
· Are you or your spouse very defensive?.
3). How to Find the Best Counselor for You!
Finding a counselor can be confusing and frustrating…answering machines, insurance, credentials that look like alphabet soup etc.…
Of course, quality is an over-used word but, how SHOULD people select and find a counselor, psychologist, or psychiatrist?
1. My first suggestion: Find a counselor, psychiatrist or psychologist who demonstrates concern for your peace of mind…not only in therapy but also where fees are concerned.
