1). Men’s Night at the Gym
Is your partner the only one at home who can open a pickle jar? If that’s true, maybe it’s time to buff up. For many men, though, the transition from couch to conditioning is not easy. Some of us just have a natural tendency toward an unfit lifestyle.
We set up limitless barriers on the road to fitness:
denial (“I’m in better shape now than I was.
2). Outdoor Play
I once knew a competitive cyclist who blamed a worse-than-usual performance on her poor attendance at the gym the previous winter. She knew that what happened inside the gym can really affect our energy, resilience, strength, and balance when we’re outside doing the sports we love.
Maybe you’re ambitious and plan a two-week holiday hiking the West Coast Trail or the Bruce Trail this summer.
3). SMART Goals–The Keys to Fitness Motivation
Many people find that the most difficult part of their fitness program is sticking with it. Often we drift from program to program, becoming passionately dedicated to step classes one month, then Pilates or yoga the next. Sometimes we drop fitness altogether, opting for life back on the couch.
The problem is motivation. The core of any personal fitness program is staying interested and, as a fitness instructor, my role is to keep my participants coming back for more.
