1). Christopher Columbus
Christopher Columbus as born in 1451 and died in May 1506. He was a famous explorer and trader whose most significant voyage was crossing the Atlantic Ocean and landing in the Americas on October 12, 1492 .
Although his actual nationality is a question of debate, this most famous voyage was done sailing under the flag of Castilian Spain. Columbus is the man most often believed as to having ‘discovered’ America , although there is evidence that other explorers had made the crossing before him.

Often overshadowed by the Catalan capital, Barcelona , Madrid is now showing what it has to offer and, more importantly, sharing it with foreign visitors.
4). More Spanish Festivals
Tamborrada, San Sebastián
Every year on the 19th and 20th of January, the Basque city of San Sebastian prepares for the noisiest festival in the whole of Spain . From midnight to midnight the city is alive to the sound of drumming as groups of marching bands parade through the streets in honour of the city’s patron saint, pounding out rhythms on their drums and barrels.
5). La Sagrada Familia - Past And Future
La Sagrada Familia can be found in Barcelona, in Catalonia in Spain and is renowned as Antoni Gaudi’s masterpiece.
Although thought of as a cathedral, it is in fact, a basilica – the cathedral in Barcelona is the Cathedral of Santa Eulalia.
Gaudi was handed the project in 1884, but only after the founding association and the original choice of architect Francesc del Villar had irreconcilable disagreements with those behind the project.

Towards the end of September Barcelona begins to limber up for the largest event on its festival calendar, La Mercé, a celebration of the city’s patron saint “Mare de Deu de la Mercé”. The festival heralds the end of summer and the onset of the autumn months. The festival is a real big deal for the people of Barcelona and the still temperate weather means that, in true Mediterranean fashion, must of the fun takes place outside.
