1). Organizing URLs 101
Every traffic exchange and program on the planet gives you a URL to promote. You may not be interested in promoting every one, but you may still want to have those URLs in a place that’s easy to find.
Why is that?
Well, if you belong to traffic exchanges, most of them have downline builders, right? So, even if you don’t belong to a dedicated downline builder, you’ll still need your usernames and affiliate links at some point and it’s great to have that information at your fingertips.
2). Dialogue Punctuation 101
Many new writers don't realize how important it is to send editors a manuscript that's not only properly formatted, but one that looks professional. If your spelling, usage, and punctuation are out of whack, chances are your manuscript will be returned to you. Editors don't have time to work with writers who haven't done their homework. On the other hand, they may be quite impressed by a first-time author who knows the ropes and take a long look at the work, just because it's been presented in a professional manner.
3). A Good Squeeze Is Hard To Find
Lead capture pages or "squeeze" pages are the best tools to use in a traffic exchange. That way, you can collect names and email addresses for your "list" of potential customers. You know the saying--"The Money Is In the List."
But, do you know how to build a squeeze page? A “please sign up,” and a fill-in form won’t get you many (if any) sign-ups.
4). Be Above The Fold
I make my living as a writer for print publication. Though I’ve been writing books of late, my first jobs were with newspapers. Do you know the very best thing that could happen to a freelancer?
Let me tell you.
I used to dance the hula when my article made it “above the fold”! That meant that my incredibly vibrant words (well, okay… interesting words, maybe?) were on the front page, and that my article would be one of the first things anyone who picked up that newspaper saw.
5). SEO 101
When you hear the term “search engine optimization,” do your eyes glaze over? I know mine used to, until I studied the practice intensively. I don’t know everything, and quite frankly, I don’t think it’s possible. SEO is like sticking your finger into a pile of mud and pulling out a diamond. Nobody online today knows what the search engines’ algorithms are exactly and even if someone did, the knowledge wouldn’t last because the search engines are changing all the time.
6). Want The Best Advertising Bang For Your… Free?
New marketers often come online, hoping to make their fortune, but the success rate is slim. According to Ken McArthur at AffiliateShowcase.com, it’s only 5%. The reasons for that difference between the successful and the unsuccessful are myriad, but one reason is that folks don’t advertise enough or in the right ways. Did you know that there are some.
7). Writing With A Bird's Eye View
You're wondering about that title, aren't you? That's what writing good headlines is all about. You need to make people wonder where you're going with the idea. Uh-oh...
I'm losing my focus!
Ha! I just showed you what I want to discuss.
Focus is keeping your eye on the ball. It's not writing about the optimal condition of golfing fairways when you're writing about an optimal swing.
