1). What is the Root Cause of the Middle East Conflict? A Response to Bishop Riah Anglican Bishop of Jerusalem.
On Thursday 16th March 2006 I attended a talk given by Bishop Riah, the Bishop of Jerusalem, on the situation in the Middle East at All Hallows on the Wall Church in the City of London. The bishop was introduced by Rev. Garth Hewitt of the Amos Trust who had organised the meeting.
Summary of Bishop Riah's talk.
In his talk he said that he was totally committed to cause of peace in the Middle East and that once peace comes to Jerusalem it will come to the whole world.
2). Will Islam Rule?
Khaled Mash’al, leader of the Hamas movement which won the Palestinian elections in January 2006 gave a speech in Damascus which was broadcast on al-Jazeera TV on February 3rd 2006. He told the European nations to apologise to Islam because: ‘Tomorrow, our nation will sit on the throne of the world. This is not a figment of the imagination, but a fact.
3). House on the Sand
Jeremy Leggett, a former oil man, wrote an article in ‘The Independent’ (20/1/06) entitled, ‘What they don’t want you to know about the coming oil crisis.’ He wrote:
‘A spectre is haunting Europe - the spectre of an acute, civilisation-changing energy crisis. … We have allowed oil to become vital to virtually everything we do. Ninety per cent of all our transportation, whether by land, air or sea, is fuelled by oil.
4). Iran, Israel & the 12th Imam
The Daily Express (29/10/05) carried the headline ‘Maniac plots World War 3’ in its report on the threat of Iranian President Ahmadinejad to ‘wipe Israel off the map.’ A bit of hype to sell the newspaper or a real possibility?
Ahmadinejad’s victory in the recent Iranian election was organised by Ayatollah Yazdi, the most radical hardliner of the Islamic republic.
5). Global Peace Plans - Who is Right? Review of Rick Warren's Global Peace Plan.
Rick Warren, author of the best selling book ‘The Purpose Driven Life’ and leader of the Saddleback mega church in California has launched a global PEACE plan which aims to enlist ‘one billion foot soldiers for the Kingdom of God’. In a talk given to 30,000 people in Anaheim, USA he announced his plan which ‘will permanently change the face of international.
6). Open Letter to Richard Dawkins and to the UK's Channel 4 Television
I watched your programme broadcast on 16th January on Channel 4. You expressed indignation that Christians and Jews should be allowed to teach their faith to their children. Does it ever occur to you that what you believe about the origin of life is equally a ‘faith’ which is to be accepted without question by millions of children and adults who are taught it in the education system and the media?
Since none of us were there when life began everything we believe about it is an act of faith.
