1). Passion: Fire In Your Soul By : Kathryn Seifert, Ph.D.
Many people try to hold a raging fire within themselves, but it restlessly and relentlessly gnaws at their core. Some have tried to cover it up with alcohol, numb it with drugs, hide it with shopping, kids, work, or religion, or fuel it with sex. The Baby Boomers looked for eternal youth and to change the world. They thought they would never grow up, but they did.

3). How Do You Deal With Adversity By : Deanna Mascle
"We shall draw from the heart of suffering itself the means of inspiration and survival."
~ Winston Churchill
I remember reading some time ago about a study of longevity in humans. There has been a large body of scientific research into the reasons why some people are long-lived but of course while various diets, health regimes, and regional or ethnic differences are often linked to living long it is a very difficult cause and effect relationship to determine because there are so many other variables involved.

4). Wood Pellet Stoves - The future is heating up By : Richard Banks
If you are tired of hauling and splitting loads of cordwood, storing it and then carrying it again into the home, but still desire the ambience and radiance of a wood burning stove, then it may be time to check out the benefits of a wood pellet stove. Although on a direct cost comparison basis, the pellet fuel works out more expensive, it does come ready to use, and the wood pellet stove takes considerably less effort to operate and clean.

5). The 5 important life lessons I learned from my dog By : Deanna Mascle
The 5 important life lessons I learned from my dog
Our son has been on a long, arduous campaign for our family to adopt a dog. I have to admit we are weakening.
I have always loved dogs and I can well remember my own beloved childhood friends as well as that desperate desire for my very own canine companion. Plus he is an active child who loves the outdoors and he is an only child with no children his age living nearby so a dog could be a wonderful playmate and friend.

7). Is your fireplace keeping you warm and cosy? - Tips for better heat. By : Richard Banks
With the growing trend in restoring to use those fireplaces that have been bricked or boarded up, it is important that these restored fireplaces and chimneys are working efficiently. For wood or coal burning fires to burn well, a good supply of air is required along with a chimney to expel the hot exhaust gases and smoke. Also the fuel should be held in a grate clear of the hearth floor allowing full circulation of the air and waste ash to fall through, so as not to stifle the fire.

9). When Should You Fire a Cleaning Customer? By : Steve Hanson
Copyright 2006 The Janitorial Store
Years ago the phrase was coined, "The customer is always right." But this is not always a true statement, and keeping extremely demanding or troublesome customers may be biting into your profits. When you first started your cleaning business you were no doubt eager to get any paying customer you could get to sign on.

10). First Anniversary of a Natural Disaster By : Carol McClelland
Copyright 2006 Transition Dynamics Enterprises, Inc.
Any time a natural disaster such as a hurricane, earthquake, fire, or tornado strikes, there’s a flurry of attention right after the event and over the next few weeks or months. Then the survivors are left to pull their lives back together again.
What most people don’t realize is that as the first anniversary approaches, the survivors may experience a welling up of emotions.

11). Common Sense Fire Safety By : Eileen Church
This will come as no great surprise, but did you know that the majority of house fires are the result of cooking? In fact, studies show that cooking results in approximately 400,000 fires every year in single family homes and multiple family dwellings. Add to that the number of fires that go unreported and the total is more like 3.5 million residential fires.

12). Would you rather fly or be invisible? By : Deanna Mascle
Recently one of my son's favorite TV stations conducted a survey of children. They asked kids which superpower they would rather have: the ability to fly or to be invisible?
To me it seemed to be a no-brainer--to fly most definitely!
First of all, I think the ability to fly offers a lot more opportunity for fun, adventure, and freedom. Just think.

13). Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People? By : Deanna Mascle
This is a question that most people grapple with from time to time and it has largely been on my mind this past week.
You see one of the best people I know -- my Uncle Carl -- had a very bad accident this week. While working on the wood lot with his son, his hand got caught in a log splitter. In the end the damage was so severe that his left hand had to be amputated.

14). Fireplace Design - A real burning issue. By : Richard Banks
Mantlepiece and grate styles have altered but the basic structural elements of a fireplace have not radically changed for hundreds of years. The early combination of a large stone or brick opening with a chimney built over it evolved from the obvious fact that smoke rises, rather than from a scientific understanding of how a well-designed flue system works.

15). I Enjoy A Nice Fire By : Triston Huntsmin
Summer is here, and that means only one thing if you have the privilege of living on or near water, like I do. It means that it is time for being on the water, in the water, and near the water. The hours you spend near the water should have one element in common: a great fire. There is nothing that compares to spending an entire day at the beach and staying as the sun sets to enjoy time around the fire.

23). Learn how to motivate yourself By : Deanna Mascle
"Motivation will almost always beat mere talent."
~ Norman Augustine
I truly believe Augustine's words are true and if you look at history you know it is true. There are many people in the world with amazing talents who realize only a small percentage of their potential. We all know people who live this truth.
We also know those epic stories, those modern-day legends surrounding the early failures of such supremely successful folks as Michael Jordan and Bill Gates.

What sets successful people apart from the pack? Is it luck, money, good lucks, and/or talent?
No, it is one small simple fact -- motivation.
People who are successful all share one trait -- they are motivated.
Of course, motivation really isn't simple at all. That is why there is multi-billion industry focused on self-help books, tapes, seminars, camps, and coaches.

25). How Do You Define Success? By : Deanna Mascle
"Success isn't a result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire."
~Arnold H. Glasow
This really is a great quote. Not only is it interesting but also inspiring.
One of the truths that I find most frustrating as a teacher and a coach is that many people believe that success, in whatever field of endeavor they are currently striving, is rather like winning the lottery.
