  • 2). Wimbledon – some facts  By : john
The organisation of Wimbledon is somewhat complicated. Wimbledon is actually a large number of tournaments, all being held at the same time, including men’s and women’s singles and doubles events, mixed doubles, singles and doubles youth tournaments (also split by gender), men’s and women’s singles contests for older players, and wheelchair tennis (doubles only).

  • 4). Wimbledon Center Court  By : Chris Lewis
"How does it feel to walk out onto center court at Wimbledon?" is a question I've been asked many times. It' s a question iIhad asked myself ever since I was a nine year old playing mock Wimbledon finals against my brother, Mark, in the courtyard of our Mt Albert, Auckland home. I had to wait fifteen years before I could answer it. Still, no matter.

  • 6). A Torrid Summer For British Sport  By : blueboy
This summer promised so much for lovers of British Sport but as usual all of the hype led to some very below par performances and results. The football team in the World Cup were very boring to watch, played in a very negative way and never looked liked winning the tournament. In this article, I will be writing about this sporting event as well as looking at the Wimbledon tennis championships and the recent international cricket one-day series with Sri Lanka.

  • 7). Wimbledon Greats  By : john
The fact that Wimbledon is played on grass makes it quite different to other Grand Slam tournaments and it is therefore considered quite difficult to win, making it a much-prized achievement for the world’s best players. Looking at who has won the most Wimbledon championships overall, it is a tie between Billie Jean King back in the ‘60s and ‘70s, and Martina Navratilova in the ’80s and ‘90s, both of them winning 20 times overall (counting singles and doubles tournaments separately).

  • 9). Lawn Tennis Association  By : john
If you want to go and see Wimbledon, it’s harder than you might expect. The courts aren’t that big, and there are far more people who want to go than there are seats available, especially for the singles events – tickets for the final, needless to say, are like gold dust. While it would be easy for the Lawn Tennis Association (who run Wimbledon) to simply set prices sky-high and let the market take care of it (meaning that only rich people would be able to go), they prefer to keep the tournament open to the interested public.
