10). Taliban Infiltrates South Dakota Legislature By : Nola L. Kelsey
Where are the last vestiges of Afghanistan’s Taliban leaders hiding? Are they cowering in caves near the Pakistani border? Perhaps they own a condo complex in Karachi. More likely they are on a Dude Ranch in America’s Heartland.
Remember 1994? Religious fundamentalists overtook Afghanistan and trounced on that nation’s women with a vengeance. Being draped in a burga and beaten in the streets was standard fair.

19). The Declaration of 9/11 By : Rayna Gangi
The towers stood on New York soil in the land of the pilgrim’s pride. Lady Liberty cast her reflection in the windows, and many earned their way as Americans on the acre-long floors of Democracy. Once, people smiled through the windows and gazed at the waters and bridges that make America the land of the free, the land of many cultures, the land of many faiths.

21). France’s Troubles: Learning from US By : Matthew C. Keegan
I know that there are some people who are celebrating France’s recent troubles with delicious glee. I guess I can understand how they feel, given France’s ongoing hypocrisy concerning the Iraq War [hmmm…whose hand is in that oil-for-food cookie jar?] and the all too common and world renowned snooty attitude displayed by many Francophiles toward outsiders.

22). America – Is it in Bible prophecies and what can the USA expect at the second coming of Jesus Christ? By : Rev. Michael Bresciani
This is perhaps the most often asked question heard in connection with the second coming, at least for Americans. It a reasonable question for any North American to ask, but it is far from easy to answer. I would be remiss if I were to say that the Bible expressly names America in any passage from Genesis to Revelation. That some passages may refer to America is very possible but not provable and that is the very kind of conjecture I will not entertain.

24). American Churches – Inspiring or Entertaining By : Rev. Michael Bresciani
I almost stopped first at a larger church only a block from away from the little church I visited. The large brick church had a parking lot fairly full of cars and several people were going in as I drove by. I can’t say what made me keep driving but only a block away was a little white church with two people sitting on the front steps. As I slowed down to look at the church the two people waved to me and smiled.

On October 4, 1957, Russia launches the first artificial satellite in history - Sputnik. To many Americans this is a shocking event. Few days later Werner von Braun, America's leading rocket scientist, says in an interview: "We consider the control of space around the earth much like, shall we say, the great Maritime powers consider the control of the seas in the 16th through the 18th Century, and they say if we want to control this planet, we have to control the space around it".
