1). Horses; Hunters and Jumpers By :

Within the discipline of show jumping there are two distinct subdisciplines: hunters and jumpers. On a jumping course, it is up to the rider to cue the horse when it reaches the best take-off point. Connecting your horse from the hind legs, through the back to the bit will prevent most of resistance problems that horses have with jumping.

2). Equestrian Safety By : Bayard Fox
How can horseback riding accidents be minimized?
There is a great deal more to safety in horseback riding than just wearing a hard hat though that is certainly basic. After 70 years of riding and 35 years of leading and organizing riding trips I have formed some strong ideas about the leading causes of riding accidents. They often aren’t what people think.

6). Horseback Equitation By : Rob Daniels
Equitation refers to classes where the rider's style is judged. In an equitation class, your horse doesn't have to be the smoothest jumper in the world, or the most elegant mover, the rider is the one being judged, and the horses' movement is irrelevant to some degree.
Equitation divisions range from beginner walk-trot through open equitation. In the flat equitation competition, riders are judged on how well they handle riding skills, such as walking, trotting, and cantering.

When you think of “adventure travel,” what crosses your mind?
• Hiking?
• White water rafting?
• Scuba diving?
• Something as sedentary as a cruise ship or land rover safari?
Those ideas lose their “adventure” status when you compare them to galloping on a horse in Africa with a zebra and wildebeest racing along side you, or quietly observing the elephant and giraffe.

12). Rating Horseback Riding Vacations At Dude Ranches By :
Dude ranches in general have a bad reputation among many of those who are truly interested in riding and horsemanship. This is true of many dude ranches which cater to a clientele knowing little about horses or riding and offer a pseudo western vacation where square dances, wranglers with big hats, hay rides and cookouts are the main attractions. Not all ranches are like that and they are as contrasting in character and philosophy as the individualistic types who run them.
