4). Software as a Service By : Phil Morettini
Copyright 2006 PJM Consulting
How should Software be delivered to users? Via traditional licenses? As “free” services supported by advertising? Or using a rental model referred to under several different labels such as Hosted, ASP, On Demand or SaaS. This has been very much in debate over the last few years. Back in the dot-com boom, the selling of software licenses was proclaimed to be dead.

Kirstin,
I am a faux finisher and I do some murals, too. When my clients ask me for referrals for designers, I give them names of people whom I think can help them. Should I let the designer know that I referred them?
- Arlene, Baltimore, MD
Arlene,
Not only should you let the designer know you referred someone to her, you should also ask for a referral fee or a percentage of the contract if she gets the client.

If you hate cold calling, and even if you don't, you should start capitalizing on the work you’ve already done.
So often we don’t utilize one of the most persuasive selling components in our marketing materials – the words of our own clients. Many creative people have wonderful testimonials from clients, but never use them for fear that they are “bragging” or that it is “too self promotional.

14). What Is Marketing? By : Richard D S Hill
To too many people marketing equates to one of two things:
- Selling: with all that entails such as the dreaded double-glazing or financial salesman.
- Advertising: with all that entails such as the slick young creative and smarmy account person.
Of course marketing also encompasses these functions – though, hopefully not as in the stereotypes that are in so many minds – but marketing is about a great deal more than just selling or advertising.

One of the worst moments in a business owner’s life is that silent moment between when you quote your rate to a potential client and his response. True, that hardly a second goes by, but it can feel like an eternity.
“Will he hire me?”
“Did I go too high?”
And when he says “YOU’RE HIRED!”, a new set of doubts creep over you:
“Should I have gone higher?”
“Did I lowball the price just to get a client?”
You know the feeling.

22). WAYS TO GET BENEFIT THROUGH PRICING AND SALES By : Ken Charnly
For decades, our selling practices have been based on selling a product rather
than helping buyers in making a decision that “how to buy”. Indeed products/services get sold when sellers pitch/present the product well. Or they get sold when sellers create great personal rapport with prospects or when the script is exceptional. But buyers buy using their own intricate and unique buying processes that sellers have had no way to understand.

25). Car Insurance Pricing Plans By : Joseph Kenny
The law requires liability insurance for all drivers and vehicles. This means that if you are involved in a serious accident, and it turns out that it was your fault, your insurance company will pay out any claims that are made against you. Extra coverage on your own vehicle, called comprehensive insurance, is optional.
Insurance companies based on a number of risk factors will calculate the price you pay for this insurance.
