  • 1). Creating a Wedding Scrapbook  By : Audrey Okaneko
A scrapbook of a wedding is different than a photo album of a wedding. I believe a photo album is to showcase the photos taken at the wedding. I believe a scrapbook of the wedding is to share the story of the days/years leading up to the wedding and then share photos of the event itself. The following suggestions are just that, suggestions. There is no right or wrong in creating a scrapbook.

  • 2). Creating a Scrapbook For Your High Schooler in Band  By : Audrey Okaneko
I have such fond memories of my daughter spending her high school years in the marching band. I admit to wondering who had more fun, my daughter performing or her mom cheering her on at each performance. Over the years, we have found quite an assortment of scrapbook papers, stickers and embellishments that were designed with a music theme. You have the option of creating one scrapbook with all four years worth of photos or four separate scrapbooks, one for each year.

  • 3). Choosing a Scrapbook Theme  By : Audrey Okaneko
I think one of the most common questions I am asked is “how do I find a theme amongst thousands of photos?” When you begin scrapbooking, looking at thousands at photos can often lead you to put the photos away and not even consider getting them into scrapbooks. Here are several themes you can consider. These are all very general themes to help you sort those thousands of photos: • Children Through The Years – This would mean pulling out photos of the one child and putting the photos into a chronological order.

  • 4). Creating a Surprise Party Scrapbook  By : Audrey Okaneko
It is so much fun to plan a surprise party. I planned a party for my mom for her 70th birthday. After it was over, I realized how much she did not know about the planning I had done. I was able to recreate quite a bit for her scrapbook. My dad and I actually began making plans a year in advance. I began her scrapbook with a calendar page from the year before.

  • 5). Creating a Scrapbook For Teachers  By : Audrey Okaneko
It can be a lot of fun to create a scrapbook for an elementary school teacher. It’s also a great way to give the teacher photos of the kids without having 25 individual photos each school year. I have found many photo taking opportunities for teachers at the elementary level. Often there is a class photo taken by the company taking the children’s individual photos.

  • 6). Adding Other Items to Your Scrapbook  By : Audrey Okaneko
Scrapbooks are not meant just for photos. I tend to often date myself. When I was in elementary school, I had a scrapbook. Of course back then I used paper that is now yellow and I used glue. However, what’s important is I remember the contents of that scrapbook. I kept movie ticket stubs, concert ticket stubs, love letters from boys I like, a test with an A+ on it and many other items.

  • 7). Creating Scrapbooking Brag Books  By : Audrey Okaneko
What better gift than a brag book for grandma and grandpa? Over the years, I know that my parents have always appreciated photos that have been shared with them of all of their grandchildren. As parents, we love attending plays, dance recitals, choral performances and graduations, whether from preschool, elementary school or high school. Grandparents are not always in town or available to attend these events.

  • 8). Creating a Scrapbook For Temple Or Church  By : Audrey Okaneko
There are so many opportunities to create scrapbooks for all congregations. Through the years, as my own children have gone through the religious school program, had their confirmations etc, we’ve been asked to help put together albums to give to various people. Scrapbooks can be given to clergy to celebrate their first year there. We are actually about to celebrate our clergy’s fifteenth year with us and we are planning a large dinner event.

  • 9). Creating a Bridal Shower Scrapbook  By : Audrey Okaneko
Your best friend from college is getting married. You’re the maid of honor. You’re thinking there is no way you’re going to get her a toaster or blender. Why not make her a bridal shower scrapbook? Once the invitations are chosen, save one, completely filled out to put at the beginning of the scrapbook. When you send out the invitations, ask each guest to mail you one photo of the bride with the guest, along with a few sentences about how they know the bride, or a special moment they’ve shared with the bride.

  • 10). Creating an Alphabet Scrapbook  By : Audrey Okaneko
To make an alphabet scrapbook for a child, I suggest using an 8x8 album. My sister takes hundreds and hundreds of pictures of her daughter. I remember thinking “there she is with a banana”, and “there she is with an apple”, thus the idea of an alphabet scrapbook developed. I like stencils. I created all 26 letters using a stencil. I then mounted the letters on the opposite corners.

  • 11). Creating a Childrens Birthday Scrapbook  By : Audrey Okaneko
I remember when my kids were young, I loved their birthday parties and wanted to capture every moment. Often though, it wasn’t until after the party was over that I realized I only took a few photos and that I didn’t save any of the extra invitations. Knowing in advance that you’ll want to make a scrapbook of your child’s party, you can save items such as the guest list, the invitations and any greeting cards the child gets in the mail.

  • 12). Journaling With Bad Handwriting  By : Audrey Okaneko
If you are like me, you’d much rather type than write. I have never really liked my handwriting and I’m not fond of my printing either. However our handwriting is a part of us. And if we are creating a scrapbook either for ourselves or for someone else, it’s nice to include something written by us, sharing that part of ourselves with the recipient of our scrapbook.

  • 13). Does Your Business Have a Scrapbook Online  By : Audrey Okaneko
There is an old phrase that a picture can replace a thousand words. Pictures tell a visual story that words alone can not tell. When I view websites of small businesses, I almost always find an “about us” page. This is usually one page with the date the business started, the explanation of why the business started and often a written explanation of the location of the business.

  • 14). Incorporating Rubberstamping Into Your Scrapbooks  By : Dawn Stegall
I started out as a stamper. I remember being amazed at how a line art drawing could produce such beautiful results. I started out simply stamping and coloring in and progressed to more advanced techniques. And then I was introduced to Scrapbooking via a home party. But I was a stamper! How could I combine the two? I began incorporating my rubberstamps into my scrapbooks and you can too.

  • 15). Taking Photographs for Your Scrapbook  By : Audrey Okaneko
Once you begin scrapbooking, you begin to see photography in a whole new light. When I created my first album I realized that my photos always had way too much space that was not part of the picture, meaning too much sky, or too much grass. Now, one of the joys of scrapbooking is that you can cut away all of the excess sky, or all of the excess trees, however after you begin your first scrapbook you begin to take pictures a little bit differently.

  • 16). Scrap Paper for Scrapbooking  By : Audrey Okaneko
I never throw away my scrap paper. I buy both 8x8 and 12x12 paper. I buy both patterned paper and cardstock. When I frame a photo, I have at least ¾ of a sheet of paper left. If I cut a border for the page, I have at least ¾ of a sheet of paper left. Even if I cut a 12x12 paper down to 8x8, I still have ¼ of a sheet left. So what can you do with all of these scraps? One of my favorite things to do is to cut out shapes with hole punches.

  • 17). How to Create a Scrapbook With Only Four Supplies  By : Audrey Okaneko
Wonderful scrapbooks can be created with only four supplies; an album, adhesive, paper and a corner rounder. I remember being invited to a scrapbook party. Inwardly I groaned. I still draw stick figures. I have never possessed artistic ability. I remember almost crying in school when we had to do an art project. I could envision great things, but I could not create them.

Involving kids in scrapbooking is a wonderful way to spend family time together. Depending on the age of your kids, they can help you with your album or they can create albums of their own. Step one is going through photos. Children love to look at pictures. Young children love to tell you who the person in the picture is. Older children love to tell the story of the photo or ask you to tell the story of the photo.

  • 22). Car Lots Should Be Using Scrapbooks In Their Business  By : Audrey Okaneko
I’ve always wondered why I have never seen a scrapbook in the lobby of a car lot. Since I lease my vehicles, at least once every 5 years I find myself sitting in someone’s office as I wait for a manager somewhere to decide what price to charge me. During those 5 or 10 minutes I’m sitting there, I psyche myself up to be very defensive, knowing I won’t like the price, knowing I’ll have to negotiate, knowing I may walk out.

  • 25). Creating a Holiday Scrapbook  By : Audrey Okaneko
Throughout the year we have both religious holidays and also secular holidays. I remember as a kid our family always spent the fourth of July with some friends of my parents. I have very fond memories of this family and actually remember their home and some of the various years we spent with them. Depending on how many photos you take, you can either create a few small 6x6 albums, one for each holiday, or you can create one large 12x12 album and call it “Holiday’s of (fill in year)”.
