  • 7). CREATING YOUR OWN LUCK  By : Nan S. Russell
Losing my job in the last recession of the last century, I discovered first hand the power of creating your own luck. A week later, I decided to locate an interim position while I looked for a "real" one. Accepting a temporary position at minimum wage in an industry I knew little about, I decided the way to enjoy the position was to learn everything I could and contribution all that I could.

  • 11). Someone Else  By : Nan S. Russell
"I'm sorry, but I have to vent. It was a horrible day at work," began my friend on our monthly catch-up call. "We've all been there," I offered. "Yeah, but not like this." As a substitute instructional aid, she'd been asked to assist teachers on a field trip for 275 fifth graders to celebrate the successful completion of a testing week. Her bus was the last unloaded and by the time she entered the skating rink, it was chaos.

  • 13). ABOUT YOUR WORK  By : Nan S. Russell

And while his words startle me with their ego wounding potential, the traditional feel-good, let-you-down-easy, sugar-coated feedback is not much of a gift. It’s hard to tell someone they’re not good enough and their dreams are not going to happen, at least in this venue.

  • 18). Looking for Work in Spain  By : Justin Aldridge
Am I allowed to work in Spain? All EU citizens have the same right to live and work in Spain as a Spaniard and do not require a work permit. I don’t speak Spanish, what are my chances of finding work? This can be a big barrier and will narrow your opportunities. However, non-Spanish speakers will have more success in the areas where there is a high expat population.

  • 20). When Mother Joined The Commute  By : Dr. M. Mastria
HOW IT ALL BEGAN Commuting to work is a modern phenomenon that began in earnest just after the Second World War and the development of Levittown, that community of houses that looked all the same and supplied housing for newly begun families of returning soldiers and their wives. To find tracts of land to build these developments, Levitt moved out of the city proper and into the countryside, close enough for the automobile to bring workers into the city to work, but far enough away to build on cheap land.
