1). The Babe Ruth Story - The Fierce Rivalry Of The Red Sox And The Yankees By : FR Penn
Near the end of the 1919 season, Harry Frazee, then owner of the Boston Red Sox, decided to sell a group of his star players to the New York Yankees. Among them was George Herman Ruth, also known affectionately as "Babe". Ruth's career reflects the change in strategy and the shift in dominance from pitching to hitting at this time.
Babe Ruth had a reputation for being one of the fiercest "leftys" to ever take the mound.

3). My Top Ten Favorite Baseball Movies By : awallad
My top ten baseball movies consist of five movies on the list. That sounds pretty weird. There have been many movies with a baseball theme that I have liked, but there are only five I have loved. I will get to them soon.
Some of the ones I have liked are “Bull Durham” with Kevin Costner, a light hearted tale about a minor league season in North Carolina and the characters on and around that team.

6). World Series In Russia – Huh? What? By : Nomad Rick
As we watch the Astros choke or White Sox perform valiantly depending on your point of view, I am reminded of my baseball experience in Russia.
World Series
I always find it interesting that most of our professional sports call the championship round the World Series or some similar variation. Clearly, there are games being played elsewhere, so how.

7). My Office - Behind The Pate. By : awallad
I loved catching - I had the whole game in front of me. I could see everything. Placing the fielders was my job. Seeing whether long fly balls were fair or foul. What the pitcher had or lacked, I saw, as well. Did the pitcher need a break in the action because he was tired? If he did I would pay a little visit to the mound. The general on the field is what I was.

9). I Must Get The Newspaper By : awallad
Every day when I wake up one of the first items that creeps into my head is getting the newspaper. I have got to get the paper. I have operated this way for over 40 years. The paper gets me in the know. More so than the internet I guess it might be because I can touch it or feel it. Or once I have it I do not have to wait for any uploading or downloading or sideloading (hey a new word) of information.
